My presentation is about Ergonomics in sonography, this presentation goes over exactly what ergonomics is and what we as sonographers face if we don’t use proper techniques for our career. This presentation is not only for Sonographers, but is also helpful for anyone in the work field showing different exercises on what you can do to prevent certain injuries.

Great presentation! Loved the images you used to help explain proper and improper scanning positions and the exercise images. It’s really important that we start off early with the correct ergonomic scanning position because in the long run it will help us maintain our health. However, sometimes we cannot maintain proper ergonomics in the hospital if the patient is unable to move. But if we exercise right after scanning those patients it will be helpful. I’m definitely going to be using those exercise images to help maintain my body.

Hi Shelby!
I really enjoyed your presentation. I personally have already been struggling with shoulder and back pain, so I wanted to watch your video in particular to get some tips and tricks! Our instructors have been stressing the importance of proper ergonomics since day one, but it’s easy to forget while you are actually scanning. One point I really like that you made was that we are scanning all day, every day, for our whole career, and our patients are only with us for around 30 minutes. I often find myself wanting to compromise my own position to ensure the patient is comfortable, but I should start prioritizing myself first. You used very helpful visuals to demonstrate your points! Great job!

Great presentation Shelby! I did the same topic as you and it is nice to hear someone else talk about ergonomics. We also used some of the same pictures which I thought was funny. You did a great job explaining proper ergonomics and how to achieve them. Its important to always practice proper ergonomics because if you put to much strain on your body you could injury it and not be able to do your job. It’s important that we always remember that we are the most important and we need to make sure our body is comfortable while we do the exam.

Hey Shelby!
This was a great presentation! I enjoyed all of the information you provided as well as the images that compared proper positions to ones that were harmful. I haven’t been the best at keeping proper ergonomics and I can already feel the consequences. I can feel my shoulder or back start to hurt while I’m scanning patients. I need to keep in mind to keep my back straight and my shoulder down and not reach across the patient. I like how you added that we need to move the patients for our convenience rather than theirs because this is what we have to do for our careers. If we don’t take proper care of our bodies now then we have the potential of getting career-ending injuries.

Great presentation Shelby! I especially appreciated how you mentioned that our patients are only with us a short time but we are here for the extent of our careers-so if we are accommodating every patient with our bodies we are likely to end our careers early due to an injury. I also enjoyed the images you provided of what to do and what not to do regarding good ergonomics. Good job!
