A brief overview of the artifacts that appear within ultrasound images and how to fix them. I also discuss where they are commonly seen and what imaging assumptions are broken for each artifact.

Hi Jackie! I love that you chose a challenging topic that covers a wide variety of information from assumptions of the use of ultrasound compared to the extensive artifacts that we see while scanning. You presented the information is such an informative way incorporating specific anatomy examples that correlate with the assumptions and artifact! Personally, I find this presentation as a great refresher of information to match the facts of the artifacts with their visual representation and super helpful. Great job girl!

Hi Jackie! Your presentation went into great detail on artifact! Definitely a good study tool for our final. All of the different types of artifacts you discussed are important for us to be aware of as sonographers and learning how to fix these artifacts to the best of our abilities is key. I also liked how you discussed that some artifacts can help with diagnosis. I know personally I struggle with kidney stones, but having the shadow artifact is really helpful! Great presentation!

Thank you for the review on this topic. Being able to identify artifacts, know why they’re happening, and how to adjust them is something techs apply in their careers everyday. Artifacts help identify pathology, but it’s also important to make sure images of what may look like pathology isn’t being sent to the radiologist. A sonographer is the doctor’s eyes and needs to be knowledgeable on what is real and what isn’t. Great job, Jackie.

Hi Jackie, you did a really good job on your presentation explaining the different types of artifacts that we see on ultrasound! I liked watching your video because it was a good refresher on all the different types of artifacts we see. This was especially helpful to me because I had a hard time remembering all the different types of artifacts and which rules they broke because there are just so many of them. The images you used were very good representations of each type of artifact and I think they are really useful in helping people understand what each artifact is. I also liked that you mentioned which artifacts are helpful in aiding in diagnosis because when I hear the word artifact, I think of it in a bad way and as something that needs to be fixed. However, some artifacts are essential to proving your findings to the radiologist! Artifacts are a very important concept to understand and you did an awesome job presenting that!

Nice job on explaining the different types of artifacts in ultrasound. I like that you gave a brief description of what an artifact is and what they involve. I also like that you added in what artifacts can cause. A nice job done on explaining which assumption breaks which artifact and how they can be fixed. Since this was a harder topic for me to understand, I now understand the different artifacts, what causes them, how they are broken and on how to fix the artifact while scanning. Now, if I see an artifact when I am scanning, I now understand better on how I can fix it. I also now understand which artifact aids in diagnosable image and which artifact is not good for an image. Nice Job!
