Katlin your presentation on standard precautions was so informative! I like how you incorporated an explanation with examples of variations of PPE that is used based on situational encounters with patients. Overall your presentation was very organized and delivered a very detailed look into the standard precautions in the sonography medical field. Great job!

Hey Katlin!
I really enjoyed your presentation on standard precautions. I appreciate how you explained each topic and then also related it back to your personal experiences at clinical. Throughout the hospital I work at, there are lots of posters about PPE, but every situation is different. This presentation was informative for healthcare workers as well as patients! It reminds the patients that hospitals are required nationwide to use these standard precautions to protect healthcare workers and patients! Great presentation!

I really enjoyed listening to your presentation on standard precautions! I think it’s very important to keep all of these things in mind when working with patients in order to protect ourselves, and them also. I also use Cidex at my regular clinical site but I didn’t know that they use it in the OR! That was interesting to learn! I think your presentation will give a good base for people who don’t work in healthcare to understand the lengths we must go to in order to protect ourselves and our patients as well. Great presentation!

Hi Kaitlyn!
I’m the Academic Success Coach assigned to you at LCC! Super cool that you’re participating in StarScapes! Thank you for taking the time and for educating us a bit further on PPE. Having a better understanding of PPE and transmission routes allows me to make better, informed decisions for myself and others. Prior to Covid, I hadn’t recognized the value of PPE. I know I’ll always have masks on-hand in my household now!
I recently created a presentation in a similar format with a colleague (Mindset Matters – hopefully ya saw it in your LCC email)! After gathering the information, learning it, designing the presentation, writing the script, ensuring audio and video technology was operating properly, recording, and editing – we were DRAINED. We ran into some obstacles we had to overcome throughout and I’m betting you did, too! It also took us much longer than we planned for! I can see how hard you worked on each step to deliver this visually appealing and digestible final product. I hope you’re proud of yourself for taking advantage of an opportunity to challenge yourself, for the hard work you put in, and can recognize your resiliency for doing it! Job well done!

It’s easy to forget these steps when we’re in a time crunch. As medical professionals, it’s important to make these precautions a routine part of our daily habits. Thank you for covering this topic and reminding everyone to stay safe. Great job.
