This presentation is meant to showcase the accomplishments of the AIDS activist organization known as the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, or ACT UP. It highlights the beginning of the AIDS epidemic in the United States, mentions the start of the organization, and then goes on to explain the many accomplishments the organization and its members achieved throughout the 1980’s and into the 1990’s. This is to show that ACT UP played a major role in speeding up AIDS research when they felt the government and public response was too slow and/or inaffective.
